Today is the day. Today marks the coming of the best season of the year.. award season. When nominations come out for award shows like the one that is soon to be coming. In these nominations two familiar names come about. There are several Broadway related names and faces that share their talents to the world of television and film.

Benj Pasek and Justin Paul are the Tony Award winning lyricist/composer duo that wrote the music for 2017’s Best Musical, Dear Evan Hansen. This year, they co-wrote the music for the upcoming movie musical about the circus star, P.T. Barnum titled, The Greatest Showman.

The anthem featured in the film, “This is Me” has been nominated for “Best Original Song”. They sit along side Oscar award winning composing couple Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez who wrote the songs for the newest in the Pixar vault, Coco.

This has been a great year for Pasek and Paul. I imagine that they are still coming down from their high of being Tony award winners. After writing the music for The Greatest Showman, they have been put on the project for an untitled live action Snow White film along with the newest live action Disney announcement, Lion King.

These movie musicals start with the music. In my opinion, there is little you can do with a movie musical if the music is not at the highest quality level. If Pasek and Paul continue their efforts and gain their several accolades they will continue to get their names on these huge projects and produce some beautiful tunes.

I for one, am excited for the continuation of their so far very successful career.
