New year, new cast?

As we approach a new year, contracts end but sometimes that happens earlier then initially expected. It has been announced that the current lead of the touring Hamilton production, Michael Luwoye will return to the New York stage as Alexander Hamilton. The current lead in the Richard Rogers Theater, Javier Munoz is leaving, whole heartedly. He announced on his personal Twitter account that after dedicating five years of his life to this show, it is time to step done. Who better to take his place than someone who already plays the role about eight shows a week?

Michael served as Munoz’s understudy before being casted in the touring show. He even played Aaron Burr and became the first person to do both monsters of roles in the show. Between the two characters the dialogue and emotional demand took control of Luwoye.

As the new year begins people in Broadway do not take breaks. They keep going. In the case of the touring production of Hamilton which is currently residing in the Pantage Stages of Los Angeles, there is more work to be done to find a worthy replacement for Luwoye.
